Welcome to geography 481/578 for the Spring, 2012 semester. GIS is become a rapid paced discipline and I wanted to keep you all abreast of what's happening out there and to give you an opportunity to keep me current as well. The primary reasons for this blog are two-fold then:News and events: sharing new technologies, new applications, exciting happenings in geographic information science and technology (GIS&T).
Share and assist each other with homework, study, and learning. This can include screenshots of your solutions to ArcGIS problems, short video how-to posts, postings of group study times, or anything you can think of to help your learning.
Happy posting.

ReplyDeleteWelcome aboard, Deneve.
ReplyDeleteHooray I finally figured out how to post!
ReplyDeleteYes! We have lift off : )
ReplyDeleteI can't seem to click on a few of the icons in the Valles Caldera project on dropbox such as the assignment icon. Is it just me?
ReplyDeleteHi Allison. Yes, I'm working on that issue. Might take a while. The first thing all of you need to do is download the data. They can be downloaded directly from blackboard as well as from the Mission Control.
ReplyDeletePosted like you just said.
ReplyDeleteSo, will we be communicating through the comments all on this post or will there be more?
ReplyDeleteHi Katelyn
ReplyDeleteYes we will be posting here. I will pose questions or make suggestions from time to time to guide you but you can share your thoughts, discoveries, ideas, queries, etc. here.
Dr. DeMers

ReplyDeleteThe transfer of the Valles Caldera National Preserve to the National Park Service will result in increased public access. The development of facilities, services, and interpretive trails to meet this new demand will have an impact on the local landscape. These ground-disturbing activities may have an affect (either adverse or not) on existing archaeological sites or cultural resources (artifacts).
ReplyDeleteDeneve,
ReplyDeletePlease scroll over to the 2011 / Valles caldera impact factors and post this there, ok?

Continued.....For example, construction of a parking lot near the visitor center may reveal subsurface pre-historic (pre-contact) artifacts.
ReplyDeleteHello geographers! I made it!
ReplyDeleteHello there Dr. Gadget! I tried to post a comment on the new blog site but was unsuccessful. It says that it posted, but then...nothing. Do you happen to know why something like that would happen?
ReplyDeleteI know I already posted a blog on this site, but I'm just glad it let me in again. I've had more problems just trying to log in then any other part of it.
